If you are a technology professional, you may think that Silicon Valley is the only place to look for tech jobs. However, the technology industry is booming, and sometimes in the least likely places. You may not think of certain cities or states when you think of tech jobs, but you will need to expand your horizons.
Ohio is one of those states that might not immediately jump onto your radar when you think of where to look for technology jobs, but it certainly should find a place on your radar, as several Ohio cities are quickly becoming known for their tech industry jobs. If you are planning a move and searching for technology jobs, be sure to look into these Ohio cities:
Columbus
Columbus is the capital of the state and the largest city in Ohio by population. Columbus is not only quickly becoming a tech hub, but it is continuing to grow its technology industry at a very fast rate. The rate of growth for the technology industry in Columbus is expected to continue this growth trajectory into the future, so this is a great city to explore for tech jobs.
Columbus is known for a series of parks along the Scioto River called the Scioto Mile, but it is also becoming known for its tech startups, fueled partly by a new investment community in the city and partly by the students graduating from the nearby Ohio State University. There are also plenty of tech jobs outside of startups, including in education.
Cincinnati
Cincinnati is located on the Ohio River and is probably another city you do not associate with technology jobs. However, a significant portion of the population of Cincinnati are tech workers, and the tech industry in Cincinnati is expected to grow even faster than in Columbus. Cincinnati also values technology and has both a K-12 technology school, as well as the Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
With this educational focus on technology, it is no wonder that Cincinnati is considered a growing tech center in Ohio. There are also things to enjoy in Cincinnati besides technology, especially if you are planning a move to the city, including the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden and the Cincinnati Art Museum. If this sounds like a good city for you and somewhere where you would enjoy living and growing your technology career, there are plenty of Cincinnati houses for sale.
As you can see, there are some good possibilities in Ohio for technology jobs. While you may have assumed only large cities or Silicon Valley would sustain a technology career, there are plenty of other options out there, including Columus and Cincinnati in Ohio.
An added bonus of looking at cities like Columbus and Cincinnati for technology jobs is the lower cost of living than somewhere like San Jose or even New York City. Looking outside of larger cities and technology hubs will give you many options when it comes to states, cities, and cost of living. You just might find that you love living in Columbus or Cincinnati and decide to stay long term.
