How does being Six Sigma-certified help your business grow?

How does being Six Sigma-certified help your business grow?

by Cherie McCord

Every business, be it a startup or an established venture, has its organisational tool and play strategy. But sometimes, these existing tools might fail, and it will be too late to realise it happened. Lacking consistent product or service quality is the prime reason many businesses fail today. But if there is a strategic way to resolve this flaw with timestamps, it is the Six Sigma certification. It is a standard tool that has helped several businesses rise from the fall and give steady results!

The five principles

Small businesses have unplanned goals. And that has led to around 97% of small Australian firms shut down. In such cases, external certification can add reputation and patterns to the workflow. To be precise, this tool aids in eliminating errors and eliminates wastage of resources, funds and labour efforts. It is not just a standard certification but lays down five principles that will boost productivity.

  1. Converge on customer demands

Ultimately, the fall and rise of a business lie on the customer end. And so, understanding their needs becomes highly essential. This standardised tool tells us to focus on service quality so that customers will only come back for more. Not just that, customer demands change with time and to strive in this mobile scenario, every business needs to match their varying needs.

  1. Data collection to identify flaws

A sudden decline in the sale value can be pretty quirky to comprehend and react to. But as soon as you experience it, the first step is to identify where your business is going wrong. Sometimes, you might be working away from the goals without having mere knowledge about them. In such cases, a formulated data collection is a must-do process. The second principle lies in identification. First, identify what data you require. Go with reasons and don’t blindly collect every input. Identify the purposes as well.

Next, it recommends inferring from the collected data so that you arrive at the answer. If you haven’t, then redo the process. And it doesn’t just end there. The second principle stresses communicating to perceive some mixed observations. That is, you must interview and question your team, asking their views on the issue. It’s because they are the players and their answers with a few what and why questions give you better clues.

  1. Pass the errors

After identifying the flaws, now you can work on eliminating them as they might drive away from your target. To do this, you must have a clear understanding of the entire process. Next, get rid of steps that add no value to the end product. The trick is that principle three isn’t a process you need to wait for to do. A team always needs to monitor even though you don’t find visible signs.

  1. Dream to Team

Six Sigma remarkably believes in the power of teamwork. Every team requires a leader to make the team follow all the principles of the tool! For achieving this, every employee requires professional training to work with this certified tool and DMADV. The DMADV is the design working on defining the problem to arrive at enhanced modification with intermediate steps. Communication is an inevitable skill when it comes to working strategically. So, the fourth principle emphasises mastering communication without gaps to customers and peers.

  1. Moderate flexibility

According to Six Sigma, a growing business needs to be flexible in all possible ways. Adapting to changes is what the last principle is all about! However, these changes must only be beneficial and not degrading. It has to be profitable to employees and also the customers. But remember, only an uncomplicated environment can pave the way to practical adaptation.
