Some popular statements about hunting

Let’s take a look at some popular sayings about hunting ;

●      Hunters Hardly Spend Their Resources

Everybody pays taxes, even hunters, during their purchase of different hunting gear from different states and cities. For instance, a Hunter who wants to get the best crossbow under $400, may have to visit another state or city to get it and pay tax in that state when the purchase is made.

Hunters are also charged some fees at the hunting area which is used to develop the hunting area and pay the workers around the facility. Hunters also pay for their licenses. This goes to prove that the above statement is not true about hunting.

●      Hunters’ Contribution To Hunting is personal

Several hunters take on various jingling projects and campaigns in their hunting areas. Some may include fencing the parks or setting up necessary infrastructures needed in the hunting area. Sometimes, hunters campaign and protest against illegal hunting practices to ensure defaulters are brought to book.

However, these acts do not define the position of hunters’ contributions, be it personal or for the larger body. Also, because defaulters do not keep to the rules, obtain licenses, or carry on their responsibilities, this statement cannot be proven true. We can only say that there are hunters who make contributions to hunting irrespective of their personal gains.

●      Massive hunting for a long time leads to edge effects.

Edge effect is the term used to describe the changes in the population of an environment that causes adverse effects. The term massive hunting is also misunderstood by many people. Massive hunting is sometimes a means to create balance. For example, there would be prolonged hunting when there are more animals than hunters. Also, during the dry season, more hunting is required to make up for the lack of vegetation that would have dried up due to the weather and stop the animals from destroying the available consumable vegetation. This statement is therefore proven to be untrue.

●      Hunting has been proven to be an effective management tool

Hunting is a means to ensure that there are always adequate resources for consumption, both for the animals and the people around the environment. For instance, when the animal population has greatly increased, there would be a scarcity of resources to keep them all fed and hunting would help reduce their population and manage resources. This can be achieved with regulated hunting, and rules guide the hunters’ activities. Answers are provided to many troubling questions people ask like when should you carry arrows in the nocked position? Therefore, this statement about hunting is true.

●      Regulated hunting has caused the extinction of many animals.

Regulated hunting has played a major role in wildlife conservation in various parts of the world. Conservation of wildlife originated from a movement of hunters to reduce human exploitation of wildlife and make wildlife accessible to everyone. This statement about hunting is therefore not true.
