Quake 2 remaster
Gematsu noted that the re-release of Quake 2 received an age rating from the Korean Video Game Rating and Administration Committee. The application was submitted on May 31 and approved today, June 22.
Shooter without Surprises received an “adult” rating. The Gematsu portal notes that in 2021, shortly before the official announcement at QuakeCon, a remaster of the first part of Quake received a similar rating.
QuakeCon 2023 will take place August 10-13 in Texas.
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Star Wars: The Old Republic Executive Producer Keith Kanneg decided to answer questions from fans following the news that MMORPG support will be handed over to third-party studio Broadsword Online Games (Ultima Online).
Kanneg assured fans that the game would not be discontinued. Moreover, he is sure that this is a new beginning for The Old Republic. BioWare is currently handing over cases while also planning story updates and other new additions to the game.
After the release of patch 7.3, SWTOR developers will focus on updates 7.3.1 and 7.4, as well as content development for 2024 and 2025.
Players will not feel the change at all – swtor.com will remain, the forum will not go anywhere, and EA support will continue to serve the audience.
Previously, SWTOR was updated to a 64-bit client, further work will continue on transferring servers to the cloud, as well as on improved integration with Steam and support for DirectX 12.
Accounts will remain intact, as will the balance of Cartel Coins.
Support for Star Wars: The Old Republic will be handed over to Broadsword Online Games until early July. More than half of the current developers (70-80 people) MMORPG will also go to work in the studio, and the rest will find new jobs within EA or be fired.
Broadsword Online Games is led by Rob Denton, co-founder of Mythic Entertainment and former Vice President of BioWare. He worked on Star Wars: The Old Republic for the first time after its release.
Epic Games Store
Epic Games has updated its weekly game giveaway on the Epic Games Store. Until June 29, you can pick up Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms for free.
Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms is a strategy game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. It brings together characters from across the D&D multiverse into one epic adventure.
Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms was released in March 2020 and received good ratings, although the title on Steam has a rating of only 78%.
Total War: Pharaoh
SEGA and the Creative Assembly have released the first Total War: Pharaoh strategy video diary. The video can be found on the main website. In it, the developers talked about the new “chips” of the game, as well as the well-forgotten old ones.
For example, players will be able to build outposts around each city, giving various bonuses, from military to economic. During sieges, you will have to spend time destroying enemy walls and building siege weapons, because squads will no longer pull ladders right out of their pants.
However, the most interesting “returner” should be the synchronized combat animations, thanks to which the battles will become much more spectacular. This “trick” has been in the series since Medieval 2, but at some point the developers abandoned it.
Total War: Pharaoh will be released in October.
