5 Things to Look for When Buying Kid’s Hats

5 Things to Look for When Buying Kid’s Hats

by Cherie McCord

Your children’s wardrobe should never be shy of hats. They have a way of completing the look, turning your young one into an adorable little thing with style and pomp. They come in varying designs, shapes and colours. We take you through what to look for when buying kids hats.

  1. Size of the head

When shopping for your kid’s hats, make sure you have the measurements of their head in order to pick a perfect fit. There are some that are made of stretchy material, which makes them adjustable for different head sizes. Others are, however, only made for specific head sizes, and this is where knowing your kid’s size comes in handy.

  1. Weather

The season you are in also plays a role in buying a kid’s hat. For instance, summer requires that you buy a hat that will keep your little one safe from the UV rays. This means that you will need one that is wide enough to cover both the face, neck and eyes from the destructive rays. For instance, the IPlay flap sun protection hat is a go-to for sunny days. It has flaps that ensure the sides of your kid’s face are well protected, plus it’s rated 50+ UPF meaning your kid is safe from the UV rays. It’s also breathable and has straps that make sure it doesn’t fall off. It can be worn for any outside activity like going to the beach.

On the other hand, winter requires a hat that will lock in the heat required to keep the kid warm. Here, the Carhartt kids acrylic watch can work the trick. The acrylic material helps keep your kid warm and can be stretched all the way to the ears hence good for a cold season.

  1. Age

The age of your child also determines the type of hat to buy. For instance, legionnaires are perfect for young kids from newborn to a few months old. This age also requires the hat to have straps that make sure it doesn’t fall off. Also, younger kids sweat a lot, and their hats should be breathable to ensure a cooling effect.

  1. Price

The cost of the hats varies depending on the brand, the material used and features that are incorporated to keep the kids safe. For instance, acrylic fabric is added in some to keep them warm, while UPF is added to hats meant for hot and sunny weather to protect from the UV rays. However, that doesn’t mean that you won’t find hats that will protect your little one at a price within your pocket range.

Buying Kid’s Hats

  1. Event

What event are you attending with your kid? Are you going for a picnic or to a wedding? This is where you have to ensure the hat matches the occasion. A cap to be worn for a sporty activity should be able to protect the face from the imminent weather and should be breathable, absorbing the sweat to ensure comfort.

Hats are a good accessory not just for adults but kids as explained above. Choosing the right one for your kid will ensure that they are well protected and comfortable for as long as they wear it.
