Whether you are building a home or purchasing a home, you need to consider some things. Before you start your search, you should consider what home components are important to you. Many think about the looks of the home, whether it has a garage, and whether will it be big enough for your family. All of those things are important, but it is vital that you think about the home’s integrity. Consider if the faucets work, if the electrical done right, and other things like that. Not only look at the inside of the home but the outside of the home as well. The outside of the home is what protects the inside, making it a vital component. These things are siding, roof, windows, and doors. Look at these components closely before purchasing a home to be sure that they will do their job.

Siding
There are many different types of siding out there that could be on the outside of the home. Vinyl, steel, and shake siding. All of these can come in different colors and some may even have different patterns to make the home unique. Vinyl is the most common type of siding that you will see. The siding’s job is to protect the interior of your home from dirt, water, bugs, and more. It provides a hard layer of material around your home to keep things from getting in.
Roof
Another vital part of the exterior of your home is the roof. Before you ever think about buying a home, have the roof of the home inspected. Roofs are expensive and if it fails they can cause a lot of problems. A leak into the attic and trusses may cause rot to the bones of the home. If you have a roof leak that you dont know about, it can cause mold to grow in your attic. Regardless, the roof protects the top of your home from the elements such as rain and snow. The roof is made of multiple shingles usually, and you may have to replace single ones here and there. There are also metal roofs that last a very long time.
Doors
When looking at the doors within a home you want to check that they are doing their job of not allowing things within the home as well. You want to be sure that there arent cracks around the doors that bugs, cold, or heat could be coming into the home from. It defeats the purpose of having a door if there are openings around the door that allow things through. Check if they open properly and close with ease.
Windows
Once again, the job of a window is to keep items out of the home. Windows allow light to enter your home but want to keep everything else out. Such as bugs, dirt, rain, and snow. Check around the windows for cracks or drafts that show signs of openings. Open and close the windows to see if the tracks are smooth.
