Onigiri metaverse is a reboot of the old game released in 2013. The game had success worldwide, with more than five million downloads. In the summer of 2020, its servers were shut down, only for game publisher and developer, CyberStep to reveal the comeback on the blockchain. The first beta version of the game is expected at the beginning of 2023. Currently, the token listing is in progress. The action-based contest will be available for download on the Catheon App Store, Android, PlayStation 4 & 5, and Nintendo Switch. Then what do we know about how to play the Onigiri metaverse? Let’s take a look at what we found out so far.
What is Onigiri? Onigiri Metaverse Version Walkthrough
Onigirimetaverse is a blockchain-powered, Japanese MMORPG game set in what resembles the Edo period. Like in the old version, the game revolves around Japanese myths and culture. However, there is a visible improvement in the quality of graphics. As per weapons, the eight weapons from the previous version will still be active, just different. However, they may come from NFTs alongside all the accessories.
According to the game developer, there will be more than 100 playable characters. Their image is based on the four exclusive companions. Did we mention that all heroes are NFTs? Yes, each of them will be available on Ethereum and Solana blockchain. The first Onigiri NFT drop with a collection of 3,000 unique tokens is announced for July 3, 2022.
Using the Onigiri metaverse, you will have to own an Onigiri NFT character. These anime-style beings will be your avatar in the game. In addition, if you purchase one of the exclusive companions NFT, they will boost your strength or any other stat depending on the character of choice. Furthermore, the Onigiri metaverse will offer a linked NFT platform where you can customize and upgrade the character via NFT accessories.
However, these will also be available through gameplay. Unlike the old version, every item you win is yours this time, which means you can sell it on the exterior NFT marketplace or within the metaverse. In addition, the Onigiri NFT system will give users ownership over the in-game assets. Finally, according to the game developer and the collaborator Catheon Gaming, players will have more ways to earn money through in-game NFTs. Although the specifics are not out yet, we can only guess that the game will involve prizes, quests, and exploration.
Speaking of exploration, the predecessor of the Onigiri game had several worlds where players would traverse and fight bosses, earn prizes, and discover the story behind the game. Unfortunately, there is no announcement about the number of words available in the Onigiri metaverse. Still, it seems like developers are aiming the focus on exploring the metaverse rather than making a bullet point list of worlds.
The Origins of the Onigiri Metaverse Characters
The previous version of the Onigiri metaverse was set in ancient Japan, and the land was disturbed by dark forces that set out to destroy the entire land. The Onigiri NFT characters are Oni, who live alongside the human race and gods. The mythical beings are the ones tasked with saving the whole world.
Now, the goddess has captured the evil demon with a sacred seal. But unfortunately, after time passed, the seal was broken, and the evil being was terrorizing the world once again. As a child of Oni, the player will have to fight to bring down the ancient Nemesis.
As the story unfolds, various characters in the game have unique skill sets, moods, and perhaps even oddities. But, in the end, that makes the metaverse fun—the diversity of the characters and their individual stories.
It seems like the metaverse allows what wasn’t possible before, and that’s a type of social platform for Japanese MMORPG game fans. Onigiri is true to the Japanese culture’s legacy. It has been doing well in the past. We might expect the same success in the future with the Onigiri metaverse.
The company’s purpose is to create and actualize never-before-seen ideas that people worldwide can enjoy. Onigiri Metaverse combines action, adventure, and RPG components in a compelling game that seems recognizable and completely new.
