Advertising is one of the most important parts of running a company.  By advertising intelligently, you can get in contact with customers, fill their needs, and give your company the chance to grow.

Poor advertising can lead to a major loss of revenue and interest in your company.

These are the biggest marketing mistakes that everyone makes at least once, and what your company can do to avoid them.

Tone Deaf Tweets and Social Media

Every company, from Burger King to Tinder, has made a mistake on apps like Instagram and Twitter.  It’s vital that your company focuses on pushing towards better interactions with customers and other companies and that your social media management doesn’t become too comfortable using their voice as the voice of the company.  Proofread everything, and consider hiring someone specifically to handle social media in a professional-yet-fun way.

Boring Logos or Marketing

Poor marketing, and boring logos, will have people’s eyes glazing over before they even figure out what your company does.  Pay for a great logo design that’s eye-catching, and use color to leave the impact you want for your company.

The tone and voice you use for advertising also matter.  It’s good to have a serious business, but people want to interact with posts and advertisements that are funny, eye-catching, and start a conversation.  If all you have to say is what your product is and how much it costs, it’s simply not enough.

Forgetting Loyal Customers

There are customers who will be with you from the beginning and stick around as long as you can keep them.  It’s important that you reward loyal customers for how long they’ve supported your business, that you show you’re invested in them, and that you keep them coming back for more.  Without return customers, most companies would fail.

Avoiding Trying New Advertising Types

If you’re avoiding working with a PPC agency and going for print ads still in the 2020s: you need to rethink your advertising.  Consider trying new advertising types, ranging from working with influencers to advertising directly with networks like Google and Twitter.  Over time you’ll see growth, so you should then take the time to reflect and see what changes you can make to help your company grow further.  Good planning and proper modern advertising are game-changers.

Targeting the Wrong Demographic

Who would buy your product or service?  Where would they spend their time online or in their daily life?  If you can, try to plan as thoroughly as possible so that you can meet them where they are.  This could mean finding young people on TikTok and older people on Facebook, or it could be locating the niche hobby communities that keep your company active but getting familiar with where they are and what they talk about.  When you advertise, do it in a way that will speak to how they consume media and will inspire them to make purchases after purchase.

Advertising Can Change Everything

Advertising is the best way to ensure growth for your company and inspire more people to make purchases.  Take the time to market intelligently, and your company will thrive.
