- PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
Prior to installing the belt, be sure that pulleys, idlers, loading devices and other components are functioning properly to prevent these parts damage the conveyor belt after spend much time install the belt. A small leak will sink a great ship, so the pre-check for other parts before install any new part on the conveyors is a necessary step
(1)Square up all pulleys as the conveyor running direction and running places. This step aim to help the conveyor belt running fluently.
(2)Center and level all idlers in a straight line. Details for squaring idlers will be given later. This step aim to prevent the conveyor belt deviation after running.
(3)Buildup, especially around idlers and pulleys should be cleared away.
(4)Align the belt with the conveyor frame. Support belt weight and level the roll. If possible, mount belt on a stationary frame with a bar running through center. In this way, the belt will be stabilized for unrolling and threading. Good alignment is essential for good tracking onto the conveyor.
- UNROLLING
Keep solid discs in right place while unrolling to help prevent telescoping during the long rolling distance.
Although belting is usually rolled with the carrying side up, check to see if this is so to prevent others mistake. Therefore, if you are threading through the carrying side of the conveyor, the belt must lead off the top of the roll. If you are threading through the return idlers, the carrying side must lead off the bottom.
Keep the belt taut as you start unrolling, to help prevent telescoping during unrolling process. Ropes can be used to snub the roll so it does not overrun.
If headroom is limited or if a frame and shaft cannot be used for unrolling, the belt can be pulled off the roll and reefed. This is done by laying it in large loops to prevent strain. Be careful not to kink or twist belt loops. The belt can also be mounted on a turntable with a vertical spindle. In this case, be careful the edges are not damaged in the twist that will be required. Now many conveyor line use this way to install the belt on conveyor, some of them may also use a heavy duty conveyor belt pulling machine to steady and safety put the conveyor belt smoothly on the conveyor frame without many people to unrolling it. Here check this machine.
- INSTALLING THE BELT
Before the belt can be pulled around the conveyor some methods must be used to fasten the belt ends to the pulley mechanism (bulldozer or crane winch). One method is metal plates bolted to the belt end with a link for the pulling cable. Install 10mm to 12mm diameter bolts, uniformly spaced, across the entire belt. If the belt is being pulled over troughing idlers, bolt the pulling plate to the bottom side of the belt.
The bolted plate method is much more preferred to cutting a single hole through the center of the belt or notching the corners for the pulling rope or cable. If an old belt is being replaced it can be cut and attached to the lead end of the new belt, allowing the new one to follow as the old belt is pulled off. Bolting the trailing end of the old belt beneath the leading end of the new belt will make pulling smoother. Position personnel at conveyor key points to help avoid hang-ups or belt damage.
Above are the methods without specific tools. We also have specific conveyor splicing tools can save much energy and better used on clamp the conveyor belt end part with the chain can be pull to install the conveyor belt on a more convenient way. It is reusable as different conveyor belt width for traction and stretching of conveyor belt. The two ends of the conveyor belt can be moved to a certain extent by traction and stretching, It is composed of 2 clamps and 4 press beams. The clamp is simple structure, which is a ring shape formed by hinged in sequence by 6 connecting rods, and its pressure for beams will increasing with pulling forced enlarge. The materials of it is high-strength aluminum alloy rectangular tube, which can evenly distribute the pressure on the whole beams, so the clamping function is reliable. Besides, there are several triangular teeth distributed on the contact surface with the conveyor belt, so that no slip when using.

How to use it:
(1)Put the top and bottom beams, which teeth surface touch the belt two sides, on the certain distance from the splicing joint parts (As figure as bellow)
(2)Insert two clamps into the two ends of the pressure beams and close to the conveyor belt edges, adjusting the position of the two pressre beams to align the pin holes at both ends, and insert two steel pins. As figures as bellow
(3)Operating the other end of the conveyor belt joint as above.
(4)The two hooks of the fastener are respectively connected with the shackles of the clamps.
(5)Operating the two clamps at the same time to make the hooks tighten in the direction of the fastener synchronously, and the tensioner drives the conveyor belt joints to the largest position under the action of the tension.
(6)Carry out joint operations.
(7)Loosen the dastener and the operation ends.
How to maintenance the tools:
- The strapping device can only bear the action of parallel force, otherwise it is easy to be damaged , so it’s better to keep the clamps and the pressure beams parallel and symmetrically during the operation as possible.
- The clamps and pressure beams should not be hammered to avoid deformation.
- Keep the device in packing box when not use.
Above are the steps to put on the belt on the conveyors. After 2 ends of the conveyor belt joint contact, the next stop is to make splicing for the conveyor belt joint parts.
