What is Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Engineering?
Those days are gone when engineering fields were male-dominated. Now a day’s females take an active part in engineering because of awareness. Matter is if you like this field you should go for it.
As female metallurgical engineer you will be able to work in laboratories, refineries and steel mills. So, you can find a job that is feasible for females. But you should have interest in mathematics and chemistry. And love to work with challenges for making new materials that will suit the client need. Moreover, you can go for higher studies to develop something new in this field.
Metallurgy is a branch of Material science and engineering. Metallurgical Engineering is all about the study of different metals and their alloys. Metallurgical Engineering is also called the technology of metals. Metals of different kinds are used in unlimited industries. As a Metallurgical Engineer, you work with a variety of metals to design new products, refine the collection process, and create different blends of metal to suit specific needs. 
  • The process starts deep within the earth, where metals have settled over millions of years. As a metallurgical engineer in mineral processing, you find new, more effective, more efficient, or more earth-friendly techniques for pulling those metals out of the earth.
  • You can also go in field of called extraction. In this field, you start with metal ore. A combination of metal, water, and other materials. Your job is to design methods for separating metal from the rest of the components, with consideration for the environment. This process takes place in labs, refineries, and steel mills.
  • The third main category of metallurgical engineering is referred to as physical metallurgy. This is the field where you create new metals and metal alloys for specific products and construction.
Personal experience of metallurgical engineer:
Most of the time, metallurgical engineers find jobs in manufacturing (steel mills or metals processing) or metallurgical labs (testing and forensics). I love working in a manufacturing setting, there is plenty of engineering and lots of interaction with the operators/workers.  Not only does this allow me to exercise my engineering knowledge but it also allows me to develop my interpersonal skills and leadership techniques, both of which I think girls are inherently good at.  Therefore, I think metallurgical engineering is a great choice for girls!
